Hi LJ! Look what I've done!
Hello Livejournal. I'm afraid I've moved most of my posting over to facebook, however I would like to share with you a short that I just finished. I think it turned out quite well, however I might advise a quick google search for the definition of "rule 34" before watching it. Its meant for an audience that is already in on the joke at Dragoncon this year. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LDsDzGRu0uY | | Friday, March 13th, 2009 | | 9:39 pm |

Rambling on a stupid analogy
If speculation on future events was a classroom: Science = Studying History = Having the answer key Politics = Passing notes with the other popular kids Economics = Getting good grades by any means necessary even if it means exploiting science and history leaving you to be judged by politics | | Thursday, September 18th, 2008 | | 1:41 am |
USM Commons Reunion
Alright. I know we have been throwing around the idea of a reunion for quite some time now, and I know the plan was previously Vegas, but it seems the primary pull for Vegas (The Trek Experience) Is now closed. I would like to propose A finite date and location for a reunion. The venue: Dragon Con 2009 in Atlanta, Georgia. I recently attended the 2008 offering and it dawned on me what a resource this could be. The Con is divided into seperate fan "Tracks" or groupings of events based on fandom. It seems we could accomodate more of our interests with his as well being that there is a large Trek Track, and British Sci-Fi (pretty much Doc Who) Track, Fantasy LIterature, Science (including music played by tesla coils!) Skeptic Track and plenty of opportunities for both costuming and mass stunts. The dates for 2009 are nearly a year away so there is plenty of time to plan, and I figure Atlanta is a pretty good central location for most of the Commons Alum that I have kept in contact. (My apologies if I'm neglecting someone on the western seaboard) Even for those in distance of a flight, Atlanta is a massive hub for air travel and tickets should be relatively cheap. I just wanted to throw this idea out there and see if there was any interest for it. The Dates are 9/4/09 - 9/7/09 and more information will be available through www.dragoncon.org I can say from at least my personal experience that it was a blast! | | Friday, May 23rd, 2008 | | 3:14 pm |
Time to breathe I am in between jobs right now quite literaly. I have quit my job at LMG and am scheduled to begin working as a digital cinematography instructor at Full Sail (now a university wooo!) on Sunday. I'm enjoying a few days off in between and trying to get caught up on a few things (bills, selling my car, fixing my rearview mirror LJ etc.) I have neglected with the insane schedule of my previous job.
So, an update. Due to the fact that I have neglected my LJ for so long I suppose this will be a bit more compressed than if I had actualy posted in a more chronologicaly diverse fashion.
First and foremost in my life, I have been in a wonderful, better than I can even explain relationship for about the past half year. Her name is Natasha, I met her in my improv troupe in Daytona, and she is currently in the process of officialy moving in with me. I am overjoyed about this even though we have really been living together almost since the day I stepped off the plane from Hattiesburg after Christmas. I could go on and on about the joy that this relationship has brought to me, however I don't think it would provide for interesting reading for those still subscribed to my LJ. Suffice it to say I am extremely happy.
The only couple of things that are keeping me at a setback right now are bills of course. The government decided not to refund as much on Student loans as they did the previous year and sent my budget to ribbons. Also, my music creation equipment went down in a very unimpressive fashion (as a note for further electronics: Go down in flames and sparks or don't go down at all). I am making it my first priority to get myself up and going for music creation ASAP, however I have found another outlet for musical creativity -segway to next paragraph-
I have started playing piano at SAK comedy lab (www.sak.com) as well as teching and some house duties. I am proudest however of the fact that I have been accepted as a cast member at the comedy lab and will soon have shows at an established improv comedy theater in a metropolitan downtown area. (I'm currently posting from this location) I am still practicing and performing with my Daytona troupe and I intend on starting auditions for a branch of Stage Monkeys Orlando providing the "owner" of the name gives me "Permission" to use the name.
I'm hoping that with the access to video equipment I can start doing video posts soon, as I am not as afraid of cameras as I used to be. I have continued to lose weight since my trip home, so my confidence is still going up, and Natasha helps me with this greatly.
So in short. -Natasha = Super ++ good -SAK = Super ++good -Full Sail = Shorter commute and job in my field -Music Equipment = broken -Video Blogging = very soon I hope | | Monday, March 3rd, 2008 | | 2:10 pm |

Irons in the fire
I'm trying something new this week. A few opportunities to market myself have opened up in avenues that I didn't think I'd put myself into for a few years. I'm going to attempt to shoot high this week. Option 1 -> I'm auditioning for a national acapela comedy group with improv roots (Toxic Audio) Option 2 -> I'm following up on a contact that recommended I play piano at local resorts (Good $$) Option 3 -> I applied for a video position at google on a whim. I'm going to see if I can find any other opportunities to throw myself into this week as well. In other good news, I have my plane ticket now, and it appears as if I will be arriving in the burg on the 21st of december and staying through just before or just after new years. | | Thursday, November 22nd, 2007 | | 1:22 am |
Preparing for cooking
Last week, I decided that I didn't really think that Thanksgiving was all that important. Somehow between then and now, my opinion changed. I decided I'd like to show my roommates and friends that I really appreciate them and what they mean to me so I purchased a 13 pound turkey and have been prepping it with brine and rub for the last 72 hours. Heres to hoping it goes off well tomorrow. Its turned into more of an event than I thought now that some people have decided to show up with some sides. It feels right for the season. I had a show in port Orange last week, and I am very pleased with the result. It was definately the strongest comedy performance I have had to date. It seems that my training with the SAK people and the several different troupes have really paid off. I was able to surpass the usual laughter and get the -I connected with the audience applause and cheering- that I have read about in the improv texts of the wise masters. To further help my ego along, I even got hit on a little at the end of the night which was a nice surprise. My scene partners were wonderful and we brought in a good crowd and money for the venue. It looks like I may be scheduled again as soon as next Friday. This makes me quite happy. Its nice to see the stage again. On another improv note, I need to try and get some official credentials because I have found a love for teaching improv workshops and genuinely wish to share some of the things I've been taught. Work is still not so great however I do get about 2 months of on-site work coming up which is much better than the warehouse. I would like to freelance by next year, and finally have the freedom of being my own boss (however I usually hate my bosses so that could be tragic). I hope everybody in Hattiesburg is doing well. Its very hard to believe that its been a year since I've been home, however it looks like I will be returning for about a week and a half in December for the holidays. Have a great Tomorrow. No exceptions! | | Monday, October 15th, 2007 | | 3:03 am |
Hello World
So I've been quite busy lately. Aside from working overtime weeks to keep the bills paid, I've been spending most of my free time either writing music for myself and/or commission, and working with any of the 4 improv troupes I am affiliated with. I have recently started doing Tech work for SAK, and may become one of their in house piano players for their shows. As an added bonus, Since I am doing the Tech work on their corporate shows, I am part of the act which means I get my own spot in the green room, which is pretty sweet. If you would like to hear some of the stuff I am up to, I have updated both of my myspace profiles with some new music. Its been too long
I will be hitting the stage for the first time in a long time tomorrow night (9-8) at The Push Play Cafe, singing and accordion...ing With my friend Max. I'm so happy to be going up on stage for music again, and I hope it continues enough for anybody who would like to come and see me singing. | | Monday, August 27th, 2007 | | 6:53 pm |
My left arm
My left arm is going to be huge. I have been brushing up on the accordion and keyboard a bit lately and all the work really rests on your left side with the accordion. On the positive side it looks like I may start attacking open mics as early as Saturday. | | Monday, June 25th, 2007 | | 6:26 pm |
I have been neglectful
I must admit I have neglected my LJ quite a bit for the temptation of the quick fix web 2.0 services such as facebook, and twitter. I feel I do owe LJ some catching up. I just feel like I have such a backlog. I do not feel like writing a 5 page post of catch up, so for now I will just list the most recent things that have happened. 1) I am very happily no longer single. For those of you from the Hattiesburg crowd, I am dating Di. This makes me very happy 2) I have cut off my ponytail leaving very few of the original ponytail owners behind. I think it may just be down to sean. (pictures to follow shortly) 3) I have attended my cousin's wedding in Minnesota. I envy their cold weather 4) improv and music are still going strong 5) work and weight loss are still complimenting each other quite well I am still here. That is the catch up as of now. I just want to get this backlog off my chest so I can just get to more regular updates now. | | Saturday, May 26th, 2007 | | 12:45 pm |
Hello world! Well things are getting a bit more on track lately. It looks like I will be able to consolidate my student loans to a better rate, and it looks like I will be buying my brother's van. My van was given a terminal bill of health from the mechanic the other day.
I'm looking forward to the next few days. I have 3-4 days off for the first time since Christmas. I already caught up on some sleep last night, and it looks like the days events may involve some music, some photography, and some improv. I'm going to attempt to take a master's class on improv with Bill Arnett.
In an interesting turn of events it looks like I may have a house guest for the Red Elvises show. I could not possibly be more psyched about it.
As usual I miss everybody and hope everything is going fine in the burg! | | Sunday, May 13th, 2007 | | 5:25 pm |
I'm still alive
I was looking through recent journal entries and noticed that the last post was decidedly not positive. I wanted to post and assure anybody that still reads my posts that I am quite OK, however quite busy. Mu job has changed quite a bit lately in that I have been just about liberated from the warehouse. My education and skills were acknowledged and I have become a grossly underpaid showsite technician. What this means is that I do alot more driving (I know the resort and Disney area quite well now) and lose money on gas and car repairs. I may be a little bit tighter on money (almost in the red with loans) however my happiness has gone up with the new job title. From what I have been told its a sort of apprentice position that usually leads to full tech pay. In improv news I have decided that I am going to begin classes with SAK improv in Orlando. This would give me exposure to some second city and Improv Olympic alumni as well as a chance to perform regularly in a theatre downtown if my skills are deemed adequate. I have been told that given my previous experience they may skip me ahead a level or two in classes which would be fantastic. In June I wil be headed to Minnesota for a wedding, and when I return I can begin making plans for my next travel which will either be a trip home, or a trip to the northeast (NY, Philadelphia, Jersey most likely). If anybody in either the Northeast or Hattiesburg knows of any significant events and their dates this would be useful information for planning my trip. | | Thursday, April 12th, 2007 | | 8:56 am |
I think I am being manipulated, but I am uncertain. The uncertainty is worse than anything. It hurts, and I dislike it very much. | | Wednesday, April 4th, 2007 | | 8:51 pm |
Be advised

Too Deep!
I had a friend start asking some questions that were very hard to answer about my past. I'm sure it was good to get some of these feelings out, but a few have been unearthed that I would rather have kept sealed up. I suppose its good to remind ourselves of what has made us who we are sometimes though. I need to stop being lonely on days off. Thats where the trouble starts. | | Monday, April 2nd, 2007 | | 1:30 am |
Happy april fools everybody
Perhaps I am trying to spread myself too thin, but it now seems that I have joined a 3rd improv group. Honestly, I love it. 3 improv rehearsals per week is great. Juggling it with a more than full time job is challenging. With the required reading I have given myself, and the fact that this new group is a splinter group of Orlando's big professional troupe. My improv fundamentals are increasing at a rapid rate, and I am loving it. I may be restructuring my room soon for music composition, as I have found myself a couple of paying gigs for film score composition. If I can phase out this full-time warehouse position, maybe I can get things going completely my way. Stupid Student loans. The End. |
